The Practitioner’s Enneagram is a partnership between Andrée Evans (Counselling Psychologist) and Mary Ferguson (Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator) — two practitioners with decades of experience and a shared conviction: that the Enneagram, used with depth and care, changes the quality of what happens in the room.
The Enneagram as relational practice — not a categorisation shortcut. We prioritise attunement, pacing, and co-regulation over fast typing and confident interpretation.
Type is not identity. It is adaptive intelligence. We challenge stereotype-driven teaching and the certainty addiction that can make Enneagram work reductive rather than transformative.
Type structure lives in the body — in nervous-system patterns, held tensions, and automatic responses. We bring somatic awareness and practitioner presence into the centre of this work.
Somewhere along the way, parts of the Enneagram world became focused on certainty, categorisation, and speed — typing quickly, interpreting confidently, and reducing people to familiar patterns.
But human beings are more complex than type descriptions.
What we call “type” is often adaptive intelligence shaped through relationship, nervous-system survival, emotional learning, attachment, and lived experience.
To work responsibly with the Enneagram requires more than conceptual knowledge. It requires attunement.
At The Practitioner’s Enneagram, we are interested in what happens in the room — not only for the client, but for the practitioner too.
We believe the future of Enneagram practice is not guru-centric. It is relational. Embodied. Trauma-informed. Reflective. Ethical. And deeply human.
Type is not identity. It is adaptive intelligence.
Fast typing is not attunement.
The goal is not better typing. The goal is better listening.
The map is not more important than the nervous system in front of you.
Practitioner presence matters as much as practitioner knowledge.
The practitioner is in the room too.
Mistyping is not harmless when shame is already present.
Embodiment matters more than conceptual fluency alone.
